Week 9

Well this now marks being over halfway done with marathon training. However, my definition of celebrating this momentous event is doing a whole lot of nothing.

I did next to zero of running. My motivation was zero– to the point where I didn’t even regret not running this week. So I’m just going to call this my off week; even with my minimal mileage running plan šŸ˜› And to be honest, it was pretty helpful because it made me miss running (just a little). When PB and I were driving along the Belt Sunday morning I saw all the bikers and runners and almost wished that was me there.

While I may have not done a whole lot of running, I was at my pole studio a lot moreĀ since I had 3 classes to use up for the weekĀ before the end of my monthly cycle.

Monday: 1200 w/u, 1 mi (400m RI), 2 mi (800 RI), 2 x 800 (400m RI); pole 2

Tuesday: leg routine (mid squat I suddenly had an intense soreness to my legs so I kept it light and spent 1.5 hours deep stretching. The soreness lasted for the rest of the week. This was also why I didn’t want to run… yes being a bitch); pole 2

Wednesday: chiropractor, foam rolling

Thursday: nothingggg

Friday: Invertable class (learning to do hand stands and never ending hand presses and shit… not a good idea to do the day before a DBF)

Saturday: Mercer County Dragon Boat Festival– 1st in sports consolation (meaningĀ that division doesn’t get medals šŸ˜¦ )

Sunday: no exercise

Weekend notables:

While Mercer County DBF is one of theĀ tougher regattas,Ā it’s still aĀ favorite of mine because they host a 2k race. As an endurance runner, it’s obvious myĀ preferred distances to race is longĀ distanceĀ (whether running or paddling).

Sunday, PB andĀ I went to a Lexus Performance driving tour. Well, I pretty much got dragged into it because he wants to drive luxury cars in its capacity. On the way there I was on the verge of just sitting out because this would beĀ my first time driving PERIOD since 2013? I hate driving. I rather run 10 miles than drive it. However I just sucked it up and I actually had fun.

This was before he found out he was penalized which bumped him down to 2nd place šŸ˜› (Mike A was penalized on both rounds-hence the ‘1’ on his time)

Obviously most of the people who signed up were male car enthusiasts but there were two other women (also dragged in by their male SO). If you see the average score times, I literally just wanted to make it under 30 seconds (to give myself some standards). Well I did that and found out that IĀ wasĀ NOT the slowest driver!Ā AndĀ I didn’t hit any cones šŸ˜‰ although I was penalized for not stopping in the finish box on time šŸ˜¦ I may have surprised myself (and PB) but still not a fan of driving…

It was a neededĀ unplanned rest week. Now I get to be excited to do my first race of the running season!

  1. Sometimes, it’s good to take a week off from marathon training to give your body a little time to recover.

I’m getting to the point where I cannot wait for November 5th come and go. Then, I know that I will become slightly depressed that I won’t have any long runs.
